Chicago Woman Wins $250,000 Lottery Prize From Scratch-Off Ticket

She plans to share the winnings with her family

A Chicago woman won $250,000 in a scratch-off lottery ticket, the Illinois Lottery said on Friday.

Doris Buchanan, a lifelong Chicago resident, bought the “$250,000 Payday” ticket at Touhy Western Service, 7130 N. Western Ave., the Illinois Lottery said in a statement.

She said she buys one or two instant lottery tickets a week and had previously won $1,000 from a “$250,000 Payday” ticket.

“Because I had such good luck on that ticket, I thought I should try it again,” Buchanan told the Illinois Lottery.

She plans to share the winnings with her family. Touhy Western Service will receive $2,500, or 1 percent of the prize money.
