Chicago Steakhouse ‘Gene & Georgetti' Closes After Fire

The incident at 500 N. Franklin St. occurred early Saturday morning

 Chicago steakhouse 'Gene & Georgetti' announced Saturday that their downtown location will be closed indefinitely after a grease fire erupted in the early hours.

According to a statement released, the incident at 500 N. Franklin St. occurred early Saturday morning.

The restaurant said they will keep the public posted on its status.

“Thanks to the wonderful Engine 42 firefighters and emergency responders in our beloved 18th District, we had no injuries and no grave damage,” the statement read.

At the moment, no official date has been set as to when the location plans to reopen, however, the statement said they “hope to reopen very soon.”

The Rosemont location at 9421 W. Higgins Rd. is unaffected. Gene & Georgetti said they are expected to operate during normal business hours.
