At least eight people were wounded in shootings across Chicago in the first 10 hours of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The most recent incident happened about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, when a 39-year-old man walked into the Northwestern Memorial Hospital emergency room, 250 E. Erie St., according to Chicago Police. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg and was listed in good condition. The man refused to cooperate with investigators and would not provide details on where or how he was shot.
Less than 90 minutes earlier, a man was shot and critically wounded during a domestic incident in the Andersonville neighborhood on the North Side. The 56-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg at 3:19 a.m. in the 5300 block of North Paulina, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Police said a suspect was in custody in connection with the domestic-related shooting, but additional details were not immediately available.
At 2:12 a.m., a 22-year-old woman was wounded in a Logan Square neighborhood shooting on the Northwest Side. She was sitting in a vehicle in the 2200 block of North Springfield when she noticed a large crowd gathering, then gunfire erupted and she realized she was shot, police said. The woman suffered gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.
About two hours earlier, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood. He was sitting on a front porch at 12:04 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Massasoit when someone in a white car nearby fired shots in his direction, striking him in the left leg, police said. The teenager’s condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Wednesday night, two men were wounded in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting. The men, ages 23 and 25, were sitting in a vehicle at 10:28 p.m., parked in the 200 block of South Kilpatrick when another male walked up and opened fire, police said. The younger man suffered a graze wound to the buttocks, while the older man was grazed in the left arm. They showed up at Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
At 7:02 p.m., a man was shot in the arm and leg in the West Town neighborhood. Emergency crews found the 20-year-old in the 2700 block of West Maypole and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The weekend’s first shooting happened about the same time in another Austin attack. A 19-year-old man was standing outside just before 7 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Quincy when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in the upper back, police said. The man’s condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Additionally, a man was fatally shot by a Chicago Police sergeant late Wednesday after he pointed a gun during a foot pursuit in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
