Chicago Man Plans to Share $1 Million Lottery Winnings With Relatives

The winning ticket was purchased at The Pride of Chicago convenience store, located at 1221 South Wabash Avenue

A Chicago man who won $1 million in the lottery pledges to share his winnings with his relatives.

"Family comes first," said winner Carlos Herrera. "I am sharing this prize with my relatives."

Herrera, 22, just finished a night shift at a printing company where he works when he decided to buy two "World Class Millions" tickets. The first ticket held no prize, but he struck gold on the second.

"On the second ticket, I kept counting the zeros over and over," Herrera said. "I couldn't believe it was possible that I would win $1 million!"

The winning ticket was purchased at The Pride of Chicago convenience store, located at 1221 South Wabash Avenue. The retailer will receive $10,000, which is equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, as a bonus for selling the winning ticket.

"World Class Millions" is a $30 instant ticket that offers three top prizes of $15 million and seven prizes of $1 million.

Two $15 million prizes and six $1 million prizes remain, according to the Illinois Lottery.
