Chicago Man Charged in Crash That Killed Unborn Child

A Chicago man was charged Friday in a car crash that killed an unborn child.

Ramon Marin, 23, was arrested and charged after his car struck another car driven by a 21-year-old pregnant woman Wednesday. Police said he was speeding and lost control of the car at about 9:40 p.m. in the 6000 block of West Fullerton in the Belmont Central neighborhood.

Following the crash, the woman was taken to Loyola University Hospital in serious condition, according to police. Her unborn child died the next day.

Marin, of the 3000 block of North Natoma Avenue, was charged with one felony count of reckless homicide to an unborn child, one felony of aggravated reckless driving and other moving violations, police said.

Marin was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
