A 23-year-old Chicago man has been charged with beating his pregnant girlfriend, resulting in the death of her baby, police said.
Jovanny Martinez of the 4700 block of South Paulina Street was charged with felony counts of homicide, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery to a pregnant victim.
Police said Martinez was arrested Tuesday in the incident and charged after his 25-year-old girlfriend identified him.
The incident allegedly happened while the woman was walking in the Back of the Yards neighborhood around 11 p.m. July 8, police said. The woman delivered her stillborn baby the next day.
Martinez was scheduled to appear in bond court on July 18.
