Things are getting scary in Chicago just in time for Halloween.
Scare experts at America Haunts ranked 13th Floor Haunted House in Melrose Park the third best haunted house in the U.S. this year. 13th Floor also landed among Time Out Chicago's top haunted houses in Illinois.
Houses in Kansas City, San Diego, Phoenix and Ulster Park, NY also received mention for their alarming attractions
According to America Haunts, the top five horrifying houses were chosen based on their "original concepts" that allow guests to "intimately experience the creativity around them, rather than walking single file and viewing a scene."
13th Floor's 30,000 square-foot scare zone is the largest in the Chicago area and features two terrifying attractions. This year's themes include "Cursed Purgatory," a daunting walk through the witch-infested woods, and "Dead End District: Freakshow," a horrific haul through the so-called "Laughter House."
Brave visitors can enter both rooms with the purchase of general admission, ranging from $27-$33 depending on the date. 13th Floor is open daily from now until Nov. 4, excluding Oct. 1-2.
