Chicago-Area Haunted House Named Among Scariest in Nation

The frightening event was the only Chicago-area haunted house to make the list.

A Chicago-area Haunted House was named among the top haunts of 2015 – and it’s ranking on list was one of the spookiest numbers.

HauntWorld, a Halloween resource and online directory for haunted houses and activities, released their list of the country’s scariest haunted houses for 2015 and House of Torment Chicago ranked at no. 13.

The frightening Morton Grove event was the only Chicago-area haunted house to make the list.

“This multilayered psychological thriller is more like a trip through a modern horror movie than a haunted house complete with detailed sets, iconic characters and chilling environments,” HauntWorld said in a release.

The scariest haunt on the list was the Haunted Overload in Lee, New Hampshire.

“There’s no creativity ceiling on the Halloween industry. Consumers expect haunted houses to be scarier every year, so the industry has to tap into modern technology, be truly innovative and create the best experiences possible in order to keep people coming back,” Larry Kirchner, owner of www.Hauntworld.com, said in a statement. “The haunts on this year’s list are especially impressive and unique.”

House of Torment Chicago, located at 8240 Austin Ave. in Morton Grove, is open now through Nov. 7.
