Charges Filed in Fatal Rogers Park Shooting

Police said Lewis may not have been the intended target

Charges have been filed in the death of a man who was gunned down in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood this weekend.

Eric Vaughn, 31, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connectino to the shooting, which occured Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of West Devon Avenue.

Police said a 28-year-old man, later identified as Will Lewis, was shot in the back just before 3:30 p.m. when someone approached him on foot and opened fire.

Lewis was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Lewis, an aspiring photographer from Wisconsin, had moved to the neighborhood with his wife two weeks ago. He was scheduled to start a new job monday.

Police said Lewis may not have been the intended target.

Lewis was among more than 30 people shot in the weekend violence.
