No Bond for Man Charged with Deaths of Mother, Daughter

A 25-year-old man was charged with the deaths of a mother and daughter who were found fatally stabbed in a burning Chatham apartment building on Wednesday, officials said.

Thadeus Ridley, of the 2300 block of E. 70th Street, was charged with four felonies including two counts of first degree murder and two counts of aggravated arson.

Firefighters found the bodies of Cherie Adams, 42, and her daughter Curtria Duncan, 24, inside a bathroom in their home with multiple stab wounds.

“We want these cases to serve as a clear reminder to violent criminals that the Chicago Police and residents of this city will not tolerate brazen and senseless acts of violence,” Superintendent Garry McCarthy said in a statement.

Ridley appeared in court Saturday and was held without bond.
