The community alert also mentions that the thief or thieves may be targeting vehicles at sporing events, recreational events and parks.

A thief or thieves are targeting folks who leave valuables in their parked cars in the Chicago area--including Wednesday morning when at least two women who were in an exercise class had their purses stolen.

The message taped on door at an Orange Theory in La Grange spells it out clearly: don't leave your valuables in your car, bring them in the studio or leave them at home.

"You just cant trust anyplace any where," said Diane Maryniarczyk of Hickory Hills. "You have to be extra cautious."

The alert comes after three cars were burglarized in the area early Wednesday morning. The crimes happened while the victims were taking an exercise class. Car windows were broken and two purses were stolen.

Police in Skokie are also investigating three similar car break-ins. They all happened Monday while the victims were at an exercise class.

LaGrange police have issued a community alert. They say if you must leave valuables in your vehicle, lock them in the trunk or hide them. Don’t leave them in plain view.

The community alert also mentions that the thief or thieves may be targeting vehicles at sporing events, recreational events and parks.
