Vehicle Leads Police on Chase in Chicago, Stopped in Southern Suburb

A police chase that started in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood continued onto area expressways heading into the evening rush hour Wednesday.

Police said a wanted vehicle was seen in the 6100 block of South Peoria just before 5:30 p.m. and attempted to flee from police.

The vehicle entered the Dan Ryan Expressway going southbound, before traveling onto Interstate 57. The car was seen traveling erratically at a very high rate of speed.

Squad cars stopped pursuing the vehicle after it entered the expressway, but a police helicopter was seen above it shortly after.  

The vehicle later exited at the westbound 167th Street exit. At one point, it began traveling eastbound on 167th Street. 

The vehicle was surrounded at a stoplight on 167th Street and Kedzie in Markham. 

Chicago police said four suspects were taken into custody at the scene and no injuries were reported.

Illinois State Police confirmed the chase involved a stolen vehicle.
