Car Strikes Pedestrian, Crashes into Flower Shop

Conditions of the pedestrian and driver are not known

A car struck and seriously injured a pedestrian early Monday before it hit an SUV and crashed through the windows of a flower shop in Albany Park, police said.

A silver Buick sedan was speeding north on Kimball Avenue and apparently accelerated through a yellow light. The crash occurred at 7:30 a.m. at Kimball and Irving Park Road.

The Buick struck a person waiting for the No. 82 Kimball/Homan bus at Irving Park, police said. The car then struck a black SUV in the intersection. Both vehicles crashed into the storefront window of Bonnie Flower Shop, witnesses said.

Police told local reporters the pedestrian was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and the driver was taken to another hospital.

Bruce Cohen, owner of Bonnie Flower Shop, said a car crashes into his shop about once a year.

"Both sides of the building get hit," Cohen said. "It's usually late at night or early in the morning. ...
I've boarded up everything but one window on my storefront, so it's pretty common."

Conditions of the pedestrian and driver were not available and it is not known why the driver lost control.
