Cab Crashes Through Building in Loop

Four people were hurt when a taxi cab smashed through the window of a 7-Eleven downtown last night, officials said.

Just after 10:30pm, a Crown Victoria taxi belonging to Flash Cab busted through the window at the convenience store at 33 E. Adams St., said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

A Toyota, headed south on Wabash Avenue, ran a red light, as the taxi was turning onto Adams St. The cab sideswiped the Toyota, pushing that vehicle into a nearby newstand and itself into the window, police on the scene said.

Both drivers and two passengers from the vehicles were taken to local hospitals with not life-threatening injuries, Langford said.
