Investigators Looking Into Possible Arsons in Lakeview

Investigators said they are looking into at least three fires that have taken place in Lakeview.

A fire started at a garage in an alley along the 1300 Block of West Diversey on Oct. 17 around 10:30 p.m., according to police. Neighbors said the blaze may have spread with the help of a can of gasoline that was stored in a garage.

The home where the blaze started suffered extensive damage that spread to the siding of the home next door, though no one was injured.

Only minutes after that fire was extinguished, neighbors say they were called to a second fire at another house only a block away.

That blaze, neighbors said, started in a mattress that was left the alley and quickly spread to the structure.

The latest fire happened early Wednesday morning in the doorway of this dry cleaning drop off location along the 2600 block of North Lincoln. Surveillance video reportedly showed a man setting fire to garbage there.

The flames were intense enough to shatter one of the two panes of glass in the door. The damage was minor, and nothing inside was damaged.

All three fires are under investigation as possible arson by the Chicago fire department.
