Buckingham Fountain Shut Down for Winter

It's a sure sign that winter in Chicago is on the horizon: the jets of the famed Buckingham Fountain have been turned off.

Grant Park’s iconic fountain offered up its soaring geysers and light show for the last time in 2013 Sunday night.

Dedicated on August 26, 1927, the Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain was built at a cost of $750,000 and has since become a favorite backdrop for tourist snap shots, wedding photographers and filmmakers.
