Bronzeville Clerk Injured In IIT Campus Robbery

Two masked men robbed an Illinois Institute of Technology convenience store early Tuesday

A store clerk was injured Tuesday morning when two thieves, one armed with a large knife, robbed a convenience store on the Illinois Institute of Technology campus, police said.

The robbery occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of South State Street in Bronzeville. Two masked men stole money from the cash register and cut the 47-year-old employee on his lower right leg before fleeing, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Though early reports indicate the weapon used in the robbery was a machete, police would only confirm the object was a “large knife” and couldn’t say if surveillance cameras recorded the offense, the Tribune reports.
