Boy, 15, Shot to Death in South Suburban Harvey

The boy was shot outside of a shuttered strip club the day after his brother was shot

A 15-year-old boy died after being shot outside a shuttered strip club in south suburban Harvey early Sunday.

Police found the teenager shot multiple times at about 3 a.m. in the parking lot outside Club Assets, 17100 S. Halsted, according to Harvey city spokesman Sean Howard.

Nicholas Campbell, of the 5800 block of South King Drive in Chicago, was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey at 3:16 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy on Sunday ruled his death a homicide.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the boy was shot inside or outside the club.

Harvey said the boy’s older brother had been shot in Chicago the night before, and that police were investigating the shooting as a retaliatory attack.

Club Assets was temporarily shut down by the city earlier this summer but was conditionally allowed to operate as a bar and not a strip club, Howard said.
