Bond Set For Student Accused of Facebook Threat

Man from Chicago accused of posting a threat on Facebook referring to shootings at Virginia Tech

Bond has been set at $50,000 for a student from Chicago accused of Facebook posts that prompted an hour-long lockdown of a college campus in North Dakota.

Authorities allege 20-year-old Patrick Casas posted a threat on Facebook last Friday referring to shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007. University of Mary's campus was shut down until he was arrested.

The Bismark Tribune reports that according to an affidavit the message read, in part, “There’s nothing wrong with a little shooting as long as the right people get shot."

The affidavit from Burleigh County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Stoltz shows the campus shut down for about an hour as authorities searched for Casas, according to the Bismark Tribune. He was charged with Class C felony terrorizing.

Casas must post $5,000 to be released from jail but could be made to repay the full bond amount if he doesn't follow conditions, such as not using the Internet.

He's being allowed to leave the state and live in Chicago with his parents as long as he promises to return for court appearances on a felony terrorizing charge.

Defense attorney Robert Bolinske Jr. says his client is no longer attending the Bismarck university.
