Bill Murray Says He Pranked Texans Into Singing ‘Go Cubs Go'

“We tricked them into singing. Said we had to practice a song we were going to do up north and would they mind helping us,” Murray told NBC 5 Tuesday

Go Cubs…wait a minute!

Leave it to Bill Murray to trick Astros fans into rooting for the Cubs while in Texas.

Murray, who was in the Chicago area Tuesday celebrating the opening of the Murray Bros. newest Caddyshack restaurant, said he pranked roughly 3,000 people in Texas into singing the Cubs’ anthem.

“We tricked them into singing. Said we had to practice a song we were going to do up north and would they mind helping us,” Murray told NBC 5 Tuesday. “It was a classical arrangement sort of snuck into ‘Go Cubs Go.’ When they finally realized what they were singing they were like, ‘Wait a minute…Hey, hey.”

Murray and his five brothers flew overnight from Texas to Chicago to be in town for the opening of the Rosemont restaurant.

“It’s a nice big wonderful place, feels really good in here,” Murray said.

But how do you know it’s good? Murray said there’s one food item he knew he had to try Tuesday just before the establishment opened to the public.

“When you travel you judge a city by the bacon and this Chicago’s bacon and my brother and his bacon is the best,” Murray said.
