Bears Release Matt Slauson and Antrel Rolle

The Chicago Bears have added plenty of new faces this weekend, but those acquisitions mean saying goodbye to a couple of veteran pieces.

On Sunday afternoon, the Bears officially released safety Antrel Rolle and offensive guard Matt Slauson from their contracts. The Bears drafted players at both positions during this weekend’s NFL Draft, with Deon Bush and Deiondre’ Hall getting selected at safety and Cody Whitehair at guard.

“We thank Matt and Antrel for the dedication and leadership they brought to our organization,” Bears G.M. Ryan Pace said in a statement. “Both men did everything we asked of them. Part of growing as a team is making difficult decisions like the ones we made today. We never take them lightly given the respect we have for everyone who has put on a Bears uniform. We wish each of them the very best as they move forward.”

Rolle played in seven games for the Bears during the 2015 season, his first with the club. He registered 30 tackles and one pass defended on the campaign.

Slauson has been with the Bears for the last three seasons, playing at both left guard and center for the Bears in his career. He started in all 16 games the team played in 2015 after missing 11 games during the 2014 campaign.
