Badly Decomposed Body Pulled From Lake Michigan

A badly decomposed body wedged between rocks in Lake Michigan was recovered on the South Side Saturday night.

Chicago Police Marine Unit responded to calls of a body in the water at 7:12 p.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of South Lake Shore Drive, an officer with the unit said. Crews were on the scene for about two hours.

The body was "badly decomposed" and looked like a skeleton, the officer said. The body could not be identified for gender, age or race.

The body was pulled near Promontory Point, police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.
