BMO Harris Bank to Close 3 Branches for NATO

The branches will close the Friday and Monday the weekend of the summit

Some Chicago banks aren't taking chances when world leaders convene this month for the NATO Summit.

BMO Harris Bank will close three branches on the Friday and Monday of the summit.  Spokesman Jim Kappel says the three locations in question are 111 W. Monroe, 141 W. Jackson and 99 W. Washington.

Kappel said the closures are being made “for the safety of our customers and branches,” and needless to say, the protection of the bank’s assets. He said the decision was not made in response to a specific threat.

During May Day protests in Chicago, police stationed multiple officers to guard bank doors. The protests ended up being peaceful with no arrests made.
