Axelrod, Messina Met With Clinton in Chicago: Report

The meeting came after Clinton publicly suggested Bush tax cuts should be extended

While Bill Clinton hosted the Clinton Global Initiative in Chicago two weeks ago, the former president reportedly met privately with President Barack Obama's campaign aides.

Clinton met with senior adviser David Axelrod and campaign manager Jim Messina, a campaign source told Politico.com.

The meeting came after Clinton publicly suggested Bush tax cuts should be extended and then apologized on CNN and CNBC for veering off message, saying he wasn't undermining Obama.

Though Politico notes it's not clear what was said during the Chicago meeting, it was similar to the Axelrod-Clinton meeting in December in Harlem.
