Autopsy Reveals SIU Student Died of Hypothermia

Pravin Varughese had been missing for nearly a week

An autopsy revealed that a Southern Illinois University student found dead in Carbondale died of hypothermia.

The body of Pravin Varughese, a 19-year-old sophomore from Morton Grove, was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area in in the Southern Illinois town.

Police believe he ran into the woods after he got in to an argument with someone who was driving him home from a party.

About 200 friends and family traveled to Carbondale over the weekend to search for him.
