At Least 24 Vehicles Found Damaged in Loop Parking Garage: Police

Multiple vehicles inside of a parking garage in the Loop were found damaged Tuesday, Chicago police said.

Authorities said they responded to a call of criminal damage at about 6:17 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of South Franklin Street near Willis Tower.

Police said they discovered a total of 24 vehicles that were damaged.

“A rock had been thrown through the rear window of each vehicle involved,” read a police statement.

The vehicles damaged in the garage were parked on different floors, officials said.

Some car owners told NBC 5 nothing seemed to be stolen but they were upset their cars were damaged to begin with.

“It’s frustrating you just don’t have time to deal with that right now...kind of frustrating,” said a Chicago-area resident, Michael Johnson.

Unable to drive their cars back home, some locals had to find an alternative ride back.

“It’s scary especially because there are cameras, 24-hour security, so now like they’re going to do more patrols, but then what?” said Arooj Wasem.

The incident is currently under investigation.
