Armed Robberies Increase in South Shore Neighborhood

Police have issued a community alert warning residents in the area

Police are warning South Shore residents of a recent string of armed robberies.

The robberies have occurred throughout January in the 7100-7500 blocks between Yates Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

Police said the suspects announce a robbery and show the victims a dark steel pistol.

One of the suspects is described as a black man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, 160-200 pounds, with a dark complexion, short hair, “bubble eyes,” and a puffy coat with a square pattern design. The other is a described as a 25-year-old black man, 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, with short hair and a brown jogging suit.
