In a two-day sale, Architectural Artifacts will be auctioning off hundreds of its unique items before the business closes at the end of the year in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood.
Owner Stuart Grannen said the store plans to "change things up a bit."
"A lot of people have got erroneous information that we’ll be closing up for good – not true," he said, noting that he has "new" plans in the works. "We've got to make way for all the new stuff so we're going to have an auction."
The auction is set to take place Nov. 1 and 2 via Leslie Hindman Auctioneers.
The current store, which was founded in 1987 on North Ravenswood Avenue, is set to remain open in its current state through the end of the year.
After that, Grannen said the space will house part of a new venture. Grannen expects a "second act" for Architectural Artifacts to open in a new space sometime in 2019.
