Animal Control Worker Bitten by Dog, Hospitalized

A 47-year-old employee with Chicago Animal Care and Control was injured Saturday while handling an animal at the facility, officials said.

The woman was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition around 9:35 a.m. from the Animal Care and Control headquarters, 2741 S. Western Avenue, after she was bitten several times, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The woman is receiving medical attention, but her name is not being released, said Brad Powers, a spokesman for CACC.

"To respect the employee's privacy, I do not have any additional information at this time," Powers said.
