Amazon Announces New ‘4-Star' Store Opening in Oak Brook Mall

The store, called Amazon 4-star, will carry items that customers reviewed of at least four stars or ones which are top sellers, the company announced

Amazon is opening a “star-studded” store at Oakbrook Center Mall, featuring the company's most popular items, according to a recent announcement.

The store, called Amazon 4-star, will carry items that customers reviewed of at least four stars or ones which are top sellers, the company announced.

Amazon opened its first 4-star store in New York City in 2018. Since then, stores have opened in Denver, Seattle and Berkeley, California.

The Oakbrook store will be on the mall’s main level, which used to be part of a Sears department store, Brookfield Properties spokesperson Lindsay Kahn told the Chicago Tribune.

Amazon has already opened a few brick-and-mortar stores in Chicago, including Amazon Books, a bookstore in Lakeview, as well as six convenience stores.

The new 4-star stores offer more products than the company’s other stores including electronics, toys, games and small home appliances, an Amazon spokesperson said.

Amazon declined to say when the local store will open but posted job openings on its website last month.
