Alleged Drunk Driver Flees After Hitting Motorcycle

Suspect also accused of spitting in officer's face

An 18-year-old woman was ordered held on a $100,000 bond Friday after police say she drove off after striking a motorcyclist, then tried to run from police after a second accident Thursday night in northwest suburban Pingree Grove.

Caitlin M. Hill of Bartlett struck the motorcyclist with her vehicle on Route 20, just east of Route 47 in Pingree Grove about 7:15 p.m., according to a statement from the Kane County Sheriff’s office.

Hill then sped off, but her car crashed in a ditch a short distance away, the sheriff’s office said. She started running, but deputies arrived and set up a perimeter. She was arrested at 7:51 p.m. At some point, Hill allegedly spit in a police officer’s face, court records show.

The motorcyclist was conscious when taken to Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, and was later transferred to Lutheran General in Park Ridge, police said. Information on that person’s condition was not immediately available.

Hill, of the 1500 block of Derby Lane in Bartlett, is charged with one felony count each of aggravated DUI, and aggravated battery to a police officer, according to police.

She was ordered held on $100,000 bond Friday morning and will next appear in court June 25 in St. Charles, according to court records.
