An Afghan contractor admits to bribing an Illinois National Guard officer in exchange for over $1 million in contracts

An Afghan contractor has pleaded guilty to bribing an Illinois National Guard officer.

Noor Alam admitted to paying $27,000 for more than $1 million in contracts to supply bunkers and barriers to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

Alam entered the plea last week in U.S. District Court in Chicago, according to the Associated Press.

Alam and two other contractors were arrested in August 2008 as part of a broader investigation into military contracting fraud.
