Abbott Labs Is a Good Place to Work

Abbott is still hiring

Making drugs is a good career move. As long as you do it at Abbott Laboratories.

For the fourth straight year, the suburban Chicago-based company ranks No. 1 among its health-care counterparts on BusinessWeek Magazine’s list of “50 Best Places to Launch a Career."

Abbott also ranked 13th overall among good places to land as an entry-level employee.

Stephen Fussell, senior vice president of Human Resources tells Businessweek that Abbott's success stems from their Professional Development Program which provides new hires with a variety of experiences beyond their expertise.

"While other companies are significantly cutting back on hiring, we see the current economy as an extraordinary opportunity to continue to bring in the best entry-level talent, and to help connect new employees with their potential in ways no other company can," Fussell said.

BusinessWeek compiled the list using national survey data collected from more than 60,000 undergrads and 60 college career services directors.
