911 Dispatcher Took Call For Son's Drowning

Dispatcher Tracy Wilson got the call Tuesday saying help was needed at Rock Cut State Park

A 911 dispatcher handled a call for a water rescue at a state park — only to learn later that the drowning victim was her son.

Dispatcher Tracy Wilson got the call Tuesday saying help was needed at Rock Cut State Park in Rockton after a canoe tipped over.

She knew her 17-year-old son, Mitchel Krause, had gone to the park that day to go fishing but never imagined he was the person in peril.

She says he was a strong swimmer and doesn't know why he couldn't make it back to shore. He was under water for 30 to 40 minutes, and was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Krause had just finished his junior year in high school.
