9 Wounded in Overnight Chicago Shootings

At least nine people were wounded in shootings across Chicago overnight, officials said.

The latest shooting took place just before 5 a.m. when a 55-year-old man was shot while driving near the intersection of 59th and Morgan Streets.

The man was driving on Morgan Street when another vehicle pulled alongside him and someone opened fire from inside.

The man was shot in the arm and buttocks and taken in stable condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney.
Around 4:15 a.m., a 40-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery.

Police said an offender approached the man in the 7400 block of South Green Street an announced a robbery. The victim fled the scene and the offender fired at him, striking him in the leg.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

About an hour earlier, a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 2000 block of West 70th Street.

The victim told officers he was standing in front of a building when he heard shots and felt pain, Sweeney said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

Around 2:40 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in a porch in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a wound to this thigh. He was listed in good condition, police said.

About 20 minutes earlier, a 46-year-old man was shot in the stomach and arm in the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue.
Details surrounding the shooting weren’t immediately available but the man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had been stabilized, according to authorities.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday police said a woman was wounded in a shooting in the city’s Englewood neighborhood.
The 36-year-old woman was shot in leg and foot in the the 2000 block of West 68th Place. She was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in good condition.

On Friday, two people were shot around 10:20 p.m. near 118th and LaSalle Streets. A 34-year-old man and an 18-year-old boy were standing in front of a building when they heard shots and felt pain, Sweeney said.

The 34-year-old man was shot in the leg and the teen was shot in the elbow. Both were taken to Roseland Community Hospital in stable condition.

Just after 1 p.m. Friday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 500 block of West 81st Street in the city’s Gresham neighborhood.

He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in stable condition, police said.
