8 Injured in Southwest Side Crash

The crash happened at 31st and Rockwell streets

Eight people who were injured in a traffic accident on the Southwest Side are in “very good” condition, police said.

Police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said none of the wounded suffered life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened at 31st and Rockwell streets about 2:43 p.m., authorities said.

Fire Media Affairs originally said two people were taken in serious to critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, two were taken in serious to critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and four others were taken in good condition to Saint Anthony Hospital.

An EMS Plan I response, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was called for the crash.

Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said the cause of the accident was not immediately known.
