A 14-year-old northwest Indiana boy was in critical condition Thursday evening after a bullet went through a living room window and hit him in the head.
"All of a sudden I hear rapid shooting, like a pistol, like five or six shots," a neighbor said of the 8:30 p.m. Wednesday incident in the 7500 block of Marshall Street.
First responders said they found the teen on the floor of his family's home. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to an Illinois hospital, an officials said.
No one was in police custody by Thursday night.
