73-Year-Old Man Shot in Cheek May Not Have Been Intended Target: Police

A 73-year-old man appears to have been accidentally shot while in his car in Chicago Friday, police said.

The man was shot just before 3 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Jeffrey after a bullet pierced his windshield and hit him in the right cheek, according to authorities.

The shooting happened when someone in a black SUV opened fire in the area, but police do not believe the victim was the intended target.

The man was taken in good condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

No one was in custody as of Friday afternoon.
