70-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit by Tow Truck at O'Hare

The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident, authorities say

A man is dead after he was struck by a City of Chicago tow truck at O’Hare International Airport, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

According to Chicago police, officers were called to the airport at approximately 8:38 a.m. after a city tow truck struck a 70-year-old man near the airport’s international terminal.

The man was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to a preliminary investigation, the man was not in a crosswalk or a designated walking area when he was hit by the vehicle.

The CPD Major Accidents Unit is investigating the incident.
