Seven people were arrested and 31 people were transported to area hospitals during Chicago's annual pride parade Sunday, officials said.
According to the Office of Emergency Management and Communication, the medical transports included heat exhaustion, a fall and intoxication.
It was not immediately clear why the seven people were arrested.
Thousands of celebrators lined city streets Sunday, bringing a rainbow of colors to Chicago's North Side streets in support of the LGBTQ community.
While the city has not yet released a crowd estimate, organizers believe about one million people attended the 48th annual event "within the 4-mile footprint."
"This year, especially, it's a bit of a different atmosphere," said Grace Cook, a 17-year-old from suburban Chicago who noted the more political tone in the most recent parade, including at least one anti-Trump float. "(Being here) feels more impactful — like something we have to do."
Sarah Hecker, 23, attended her first pride parade as she joined the wall-to-wall crowds.

"I felt like this would be a way to not necessarily rebel, but just my way to show solidarity for marginalized people in trying times," said Hecker, a marketing consultant who lives in suburban Chicago.
Among those marching were Chicago's Police Supt. Eddie Johnson and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
"Orange is the New Black" star Lea DeLaria served as the grand Marshall.
"It's a real joy to be celebrating this kind of event in my home state," DeLaria said.
