6th Annual Chicago Craft Beer Week Kicks Off

The unveiling of beer-flavored doughnuts at Glazed and Infused is one of the hundreds of events offered

Christmas has come early for Chicago beer fanatics.

Chicago Craft Beer Week -- which is actually 10 days -- kicked off this week with an event called "Beer Under Glass" at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Beer aficionados gathered at the greenhouse and drank some of the region's best brews in the newly restored conservatory.

Now in its sixth year, Chicago Craft Beer Week aims to familiarize Chicagoans with the myriad of local beer options, which continue to grow by the month.

More than 300 venues are participating in the 10-day event, offering $4 tastings of rare beers and special events throughout the week. Some of the more unique offerings include the unveiling of the "IPD Doughnut," which is basically a beer-flavored doughnut, at Glazed and Infused and a beer tasting/petting zoo combo event in Logan Square.

The event concludes May 23 with a closing party at Welles Park in Lincoln Square. The outdoor party will feature food and beer from local vendors as well as entertainment. A general admission ticket costs $65.
