    A 60-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of a suburban man last week.

    Blue Island-native Rodney Knockum was arrested on Friday and was charged Saturday in the death of 42-year-old Eddie Appleton, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced Sunday.

    According to police, officers discovered Appleton lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds on Thursday night. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

    Police say that before the shooting, Knockum had been looking for Appleton, saying that heh ad burglarized his truck. Shortly after that incident, the shooting occurred.

    Knockum has a bond hearing Sunday.
