5th Woman Attacked in Oak Park

Another woman was choked and robbed, the latest in a string of similar incidents

Another woman was choked and robbed in Oak Park.

It's the fifth in a string of such attacks that put the area on alert and moved the Guardian Angels to patrol the vicinity, even walk women home from the train.

At about 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, a woman in her mid-20s was walking in the alley on the 300 block of North Oak Park Avenue when a man approached her from behind, wrapped his arm around her neck and demanded money, the Chicago Tribune reports. After getting her wallet, the man fled on foot.

Four similar incidents have occurred in the past month, including on April 20, when a woman in her 40s was robbed. All of the attacks occurred between 11:50 p.m. and 12:45 am.

A sketch of the man has been released, and police ask that anyone with information on the man contact the Oak Park Police Department by calling 708-386-3800 or e-mailing police@oak-park. us.
