1 Killed, 4 Hurt After SUV Crashes Into Pizzeria on Chicago's Northwest Side

One woman was killed, and at least four other people were injured when a vehicle crashed into a pizza restaurant on Saturday afternoon on Chicago's Northwest side, police said.

According to authorities, four victims were inside the restaurant in the 4700 block of West Fullerton Avenue at approximately 3:43 p.m. when an SUV crashed into the building.

The driver, a 34-year-old man, was arrested, police confirmed.

An 81-year-old woman was pinned underneath the vehicle and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

One witness told NBC 5 she saw everything that happened.

"I'm sorry, but it's hard for me to talk, and explain what I see, because these things are not supposed to happen," she said.

A 64-year-old woman sustained a leg injury, and went to Stroger Hospital in stable condition. An 82-year-old woman was taken to Stroger Hospital with a broken leg.

A 76-year-old woman who was standing outside the restaurant was also injured. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital with a leg injury, police said.

A fifth victim, a 60-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in good condition.
