One person was taken to a local hospital in serious-to-critical condition

Five people were hospitalized Wednesday after an apparent drug overdose in Douglas on the South Side.

About 9 p.m., authorities responded to calls of multiple overdose victims at a home in the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, Chicago police and fire said. There, they found several adults in need of medical attention.

A person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, fire said. A second person was taken to the same hospital in fair-to-serious condition.

Three others were taken in fair-to serious condition to Mercy Hospital, fire said.

Authorities couldn’t immediately confirm that all suffered drug overdoses and an investigation is ongoing.
