5 Victims of Illinois Van Crash Were From Baltimore

Identities released of five men killed in a van crash this week near Vandalia

Authorities have identified the five men killed when their Pennsylvania-bound van veered off a southern Illinois freeway.

Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen has identified the dead as 54-year-old Emerson Baldwin, 53-year-old Andrew Canada, 42-year-old Antonie Mitchell, 52-year-old Mark William and 29-year-old Thomas Coleman.

Bowen says the men were from Baltimore.

Authorities have said the van appeared to have been heading east after the men attended a religious event in California. The driver, who survived, was ticketed for improper lane usage and driving with a suspended license.

Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the continuing investigation will include a toxicology test.

The van crashed near Vandalia, Ill., about 70 miles east of St. Louis.
