5 Officers Hurt When 2 CPD Vehicles Collide on West Side

The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Francisco Avenue, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman

Five officers were injured, two of them seriously, Thursday when two Chicago police vehicles collided in a crash in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. 

The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Francisco Avenue, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. 

Two officers were listed in serious condition and three were in stable condition, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. They were taken to Stroger and Mount Sinai hospitals. 

The crash happened as officers were responding to a call in the area, Guglielmi said.
