4 Charged with Sexual Abuse in Craigslist Case

Four Chicago-area men have been charged after they allegedly took part in sexual acts with a 14-year-old boy following a months-long investigation, police said.

Evanston Police said an investigation began in August of 2013 after they discovered an advertisement on Craigslist from a 14-year-old boy soliciting sex.

Police recovered email messages, computer records and cell phone billing information, which ultimately led them to four men who responded to the teen’s ad.

Jonathan Labe, 54, of Evanston, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, solicitation to meet a minor, patronizing a minor engaged in prostitution, endangering the life or health of a child and contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor.

Vaselin K. Minev, 43, of Morton Grove, and Glenn A. Lapidus, 46, of Chicago were charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, solicitation to meet a minor, patronizing a minor engaged in prostitution, and traveling to meet a minor.

Alejandro Costilla, 43, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and patronizing a minor engaged in prostitution.

The teen’s parents worked with police during the investigation, police said.
