A 3-year-old girl was one of two people shot near the intersection of 47th and Damen on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The girl was shot in both legs, and was taken to Comers Childrens Hospital. She was listed in stable condition, according to police.
The shooting occurred just after 3 p.m., according to police, after a man walked up to the victims and opened fire. The gunman then entered a waiting car, possibly a black sedan, and sped away.
Police also say that a 34-year-old man was shot in the foot, and he was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in stable condition.
