Boy, 3, Shot While Walking with Parents

Man approached family walking together, started shooting.

A 3-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting on the Far South Side's West Pullman neighborhood Saturday night.

The boy was walking with his parents in the 700 block of West 120th Street about 11:30 p.m. when a man approached with a handgun and opened fire, police said.

A good Samaritan at the scene drove the boy and his mother to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, and the father met them there later. The boy was then transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

Police are unsure what the motive for the shooting was, or whether there was an intended target.

No one is in custody for the shooting Sunday morning.

Area South detectives are investigating.
